In the morning we talked with the marina manager about staying another day. We'd discussed it the night before and he said he thought the 55' Hatteras next to us was leaving in the morning and we could have that spot. So we hung out in the morning and waited for them to go. Before we moved over to the new spot we switched sides at the gas dock and pumped out our heads. $5 to pump out both! That was the lowest price we've ever paid for that service.
We fired em up again and moved into our new home for the night. After we were all tied up and electrified again we walked over to the Bayview Grill and had breakfast. To our surprise town was hoppin! It was so quiet down by the marina that we would never have guessed how busy it would be.
Part of the traffic came from a weekly Farmers Market / Craft Show that sets up every Saturday. It was right across from the restaurant so after a yummy breakfast we ambled through it on our way back to the boat. We didn't buy any crafty stuff; but I did pick up some redskin potatoes. They make great home fries for breakfast.
Back at the boat we did some housekeeping. We were expecting guests that night. It was a lucky coincidence that the Michigander cycling ride ended in Frankfort this summer. My friend Sue was riding. Sue has ridden the tour for twenty two summers. The ride takes place in a different area of Michigan each year. It tries to incorporate as many rail trails as possible into the route. It is a fundraiser for Michigan Trails and Greenways.
Katee and Marianne were sagging the ride. They called themselves the Two Sagging Ladies. When you drive sag you pick up riders in difficulty along the bike route. SAG used to stand for suggested advance guideline. It meant you should be in a certain place by a predefined time to complete the ride by the end of the day. Now it means a multitude of things. You are volunteers with a bike rack that will help out riders, you help with route signage, safety, first aid and pick up and delivery of just about anything. The ladies thought the ride had about 450 riders on it this year.
Marianne texted me about 12:30 that she and Kate were in town for lunch. I walked over and met them at Storm Cloud Brewery. It hadn't been that long since I had breakfast so I just ordered a beer. My Birdwalker Blonde was tasty! They finished their lunch and got back out on the route. They had a volunteer appreciation dinner to attend that evening and then they would meet us at the boat. I walked back through town and did a little tourist shopping.
Sue got to the boat about 3:30. We sat up on the bridge and gabbed. I brought out some chips, salsa and guacamole for snacks and then made us up some chicken quesadillas.
Sue's shirt says, "The Outdoors is my Gym." I love that.
Katee and Marianne were back by 6:30 or so and we all sat up top and enjoyed some "docktails" and conversation. We were enjoying our selves so much that nobody wanted to give up and head to bed. We finally all turned in about 10:30. Katee and Marianne shared the V berth and Sue took the couch. We don't get to see each other as often as we'd like; but when we do it's like we've never been apart.
