We fueled up in Haverstraw before we tied up for the night. The pumps were so slow it took us almost forty five minutes to finish. This marina was huge. It seemed like we walked a mile to go and check in. They had almost nine hundred slips.
We took our time getting out in the morning. We had a little over a hundred miles to Waterford so it was going to be a little shorter day.
The ride up the Hudson River was beautiful. The Adirondack, Appalachian and Catskill mountains all cross the river.
We passed West Point Academy.
Many areas of the river were as wide as a lake. We were able to go full speed. Other areas were fairly narrow and we would have to slow down. Dan was pretty disgruntled about all of the little marinas and boat harbors along the river. They had no sea walls or break walls so no wake was essential.

Our goal was to fuel up before we got to Waterford. We found a dock in Troy, NY that had diesel. It was right on the Hudson. Next stop was Waterford, NY and the Waterford Harbor Visitor Center. This would be our first stop on our way through the Erie Canal.
We didn't realize that we were going to have to go through a lock before we could make the turn west to Waterford. This lock was NOT as easy as our first one. The wind was beating us up and we had a little trouble staying in position. But we made it through okay.
Waterford was also where we were meeting our boat guests Sandi Karos and Jerry Tomaszewski. They brought a one way car rental to Waterford and will ride with us home to Michigan. They are going to help us navigate the locks and have some fun!
We made it into Waterford about an hour before Sandi and Jerry. We loaded their stuff onto the boat and had a docktail. Cocktails at the dock. After we caught up a bit we went into town for dinner. We had a wonderful meal at McGreivys pub. After dinner we hit up the local grocery store. Not only will we not starve on this leg of the trip; we are going to eat pretty well.
